NASA unveils Artemis II astronauts flying around the moon in 2024

The Nationwide Aeronautics and Area Administration on Monday introduced the 4 astronauts who will fly on the company’s upcoming mission across the moon, at the moment scheduled for late 2024.

Generally known as the Artemis II mission, the spaceflight will carry three Individuals and one Canadian: Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch from NASA, and Jeremy Hansen from the Canadian Area Company.

Wiseman is the mission’s commander and Glover is the pilot, whereas Hansen and Koch are mission specialists.

Artemis II follows the uncrewed Artemis I mission, which accomplished a virtually month-long journey across the moon late final 12 months. The Artemis program represents a collection of missions with escalating objectives. The third – tentatively scheduled for 2025 – is predicted to return astronauts to the lunar floor for the primary time because the Apollo period.

The Artemis II mission will launch on NASA’s Area Launch System rocket, with the Orion capsule carrying the astronauts on a 10-day journey to the moon and again. Whereas Artemis II will not land on the moon, it should make a close to go above the floor and show the Orion spacecraft’s capability to move individuals safely.
